What the Card Says

Whenever a player plays a land, that player draws a card.

What Does That Mean

Whenever any player plays a land from their hand, that player immediately draws a card.

This effect triggers for all players at the table, so your opponents also draw cards when they play lands.

Why Is That Important

Horn of Greed fits into land-ramp strategies where you're playing significantly more lands per turn than your opponents—like decks with fetch lands, additional land-drop effects, or landfall synergies.

The card advantage you gain from playing multiple lands per turn vastly outpaces what opponents get from their single land drops, effectively turning a symmetric effect into one that favors you.

It works particularly well in Commander with cards that let you play extra lands each turn or in Limited formats where landfall creatures reward you for the extra cards you're drawing.
